Wright’s Furniture & Flooring is supporting a community initiative to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Dieterich and Montrose, Illinois. The national book gifting program delivers free, high-quality books each month to children from birth to age five to support early literacy development.
The effort is being led locally by a committee that includes Dieterich resident Kelly Frohning. In order for the program to be established in a new area, local funding is needed to cover book and shipping costs. According to Frohning, the committee has already raised about 60% of its $3,000 goal, with support from local businesses including Wright’s Furniture & Flooring.
“We’re so grateful that Wright’s Furniture is joining us in expanding the Imagination Library to the children of Dieterich and Montrose,” Frohning said. “Their continuous support for community initiatives and dedication to see that Dieterich succeeds is inspiring.”
John Wright, President of Wright’s Furniture & Flooring, emphasized the personal connection his family has to the community and the importance of the initiative.
“My wife is from Montrose, and she and I along with our three children all attended school in Dieterich,” John Wright said. “This cause is very important to us, and we are extremely happy to get a book in every child’s hand.”
The Imagination Library was established by Dolly Parton in 1995 and has since expanded to serve children across the U.S. and other countries, distributing more than 270 million books worldwide. While the central organization manages book selection, purchasing, and logistics, local partners handle outreach and fundraising.
Vice President Alex Wright added that the decision to support the initiative was straightforward.
“As a father of two kids under 2 years old, reading is a daily activity my wife and I enjoy with our kids,” Alex Wright said. “We are thrilled the Imagination Library program is now within reach.”
The committee hopes to meet its fundraising goal by July 4, which would allow children in Dieterich and Montrose to begin enrolling in the program. Those interested in contributing or learning more can contact 217-259-8410 or email effingham.imaginationlibrary@gmail.com.
