I’m curious to know Phil’s take on going from one person shop to many, and maintaining quality.

Hey Phil! Lumber-core is the topic here. How thin do you think the inner core can be? I’ve been wanting to scale down lumber-core to as thin as possible for smaller items. Maybe 1/16″-1/8″ core, 1/16″ cross-band and 1/16″ face/backer veneer. So, 5/16″-3/8″-ish finish thickness. Do you see any issues with going thin? I would just throw a face/backer veneer on thin plywood but finding ANY plywood that’s actually flat is hit and miss at best.

From Wordworker:
Does Phil feel like having a signature piece is the goal/measure of achievement of a designer/craftsman or a boundary around creativity? How does that affect his practice?
