23 Best Fashion Trainers 2025, According To Our Editors

If we did a deep dive into women’s wardrobes, I think we’d be surprised at just how much we all rely on the best fashion trainers. Once reserved for those of us with a more sporty aesthetic, sneakers are now the fashion set’s go-to choice of footwear, no matter the ‘fit we’re pairing them with.

It’s easy to understand why when you break it down. These days, when looking for the perfect thing to put on our feet and go outside, we want shoes that look great (obviously) and are as comfortable as the slippers we’ll be leaving at home, too.

While we still love ballet pumps (mesh, in particular), loafers, and even sometimes a kitten heel for everyday wear, they can pinch and rub – and often require breaking in. Trainers, however, don’t.

Running shoes are probably the sneakers we buy most regularly for evident reasons (they wear out), but they’re not exactly an exciting purchase. Unless you’re buying said running shoes for a cute errands ‘fit. It’s called running errands for a reason, okay. But if you really want to treat yourself this season (who doesn’t?), a pair of women’s fashion trainers is where it’s at, and the SS25 runways would agree, from Comme des Garçons and Dries Van Noten to Rick Owens.

It’s not just on the runway. From London to Milan, Fashion Week street style has shown fashion editors and influencers proving trainers aren’t just for cash. Low, plimsole-style silhouettes are still a crowd favourite. We’re seeing them paired with trench coats and statement jewellery for autumn. Chic, but comfortable.

What are the trainers everyone is wearing?

Adidas isn’t going anywhere for 2025, with styles like Gazelles, Sambas and Spezials still largely owning the pavements of every major city in the UK. However, we are seeing other brands trickle through.

If you’re looking for something different for the new season we’ve spotted the street style set in Gola. The Gola Torpedo in silver is worth knowing if you want to add interest to your daywear. Celebrities are also giving us some fresh inspo; Jennifer Lawrence reminded us that Vans (yes, those slip-on shoes in the back of your wardrobe) can balance out tailored looks, while Emily Ratajkowski and Dua Lipa made a strong case for Puma trainers. Elsewhere, in the chunky trainer/dad trainer department, New Balance remains ever-popular, too, with the 530 silhouettes still being their bestseller.
